Interview with David de Rothschild and Graham Hill

Sorry this took so long to post! I’ve finally uploaded the entire interview with David de Rothschild and Graham Hill. Because of YouTube restrictions, it’s in five parts: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

Enjoy! Definitely worth watching.

The real purpose to life is to be happy. No matter what you do, it should be something that makes you happy.

My story is

I’m a senior at Camden Hills Regional High School in Rockport, Maine. I’m the youngest and have three older brothers. They all live in different places around the world.

Looking ahead

I’m looking forward to going to college. I think it’ll be a nice experience to work with people who are really interested in what they’re doing. I’m thinking about studying engineering, maybe electrical or computer, but I‘m not sure.

I’m really passionate about:

So many things! But it changes all the time. What makes me happy changes everyday. Right now, I do a huge amount of stage lighting design for my school, something like 15-20 hours a week. I like that it’s artistic, deciding where to put lights and the colors and all, but also technical. You have to know how to use lights, and know what your system can handle. We’re working on Once Upon a Mattress, a musical based upon The Princess and a Pea. It’s a good show.

Since you really like math, what animal best represents a mathematical principle?

All during middle school, I had a teacher who was obsessed with Fibonacci numbers. So ever since then, I’ve noticed Fibonacci numbers. You start with 1,1 and then you add the number before it to the sum. So it resonates in my mind. It’s the Nautilus, the golden spiral, and I see it in nature all the time.

I can’t wait to:

go to the PopTech conference. I’m so excited about the speakers. They’ve been doing such interesting things. There are some speakers talking about the Deep Water Horizon Oil Spill, also a texting project that looks fascinating. Last year, three or four speakers came to my school. It was really amazing.
